- BOTOX®
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the brows, on the forehead and at the corners of the eyes in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (usually 3-4 months). It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles, reducing the muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form.
Introduced in 2002, BOTOX® Cosmetic was the first botulinum toxin to be approved by the FDA to temporarily treat moderate to severe glabellar lines between the brows. With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons why BOTOX® Cosmetic has been chosen by millions of women and their doctors. - Dysport®
Dysport is a purified protein of botulinum toxin A that works by relaxing targeted facial muscles to soften fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, crow’s feet and glabella. The process of relaxing these facial muscles ultimately results in the reduction and smoothing away of expression lines and wrinkles. The Dysport protein is slightly smaller than other purified proteins of botulinum toxin A, which enables the Dysport to have a more rapid onset, taking effect more quickly. Results can often be seen in as quickly as two to three days, compared to 7-14 days of other cosmetic injectables. Studies have also shown that Dysport has even been reported to last up to 25% longer than other cosmetic injectables. Dysport also spreads more easily, so fewer injections are required, making it more convenient for the client.
Dysport was developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1990’s to successfully treat a number of neurological and ophthalmic conditions. It was recently FDA approved in the United States. Since that origination of Dysport, thousands of treatments have been performed safely and effectively for various cosmetic and therapeutic circumstances that range from frown lines to auxiliary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in the underarms, hands and feet).
